TMFSG

Tangentyere Men’s Family Safety Group

The Tangentyere Men’s Family Safety Group (TMFSG) is a collective of senior Aboriginal men from Alice Springs Town Camps committed to reducing family and community violence through cultural authority, accountability, and healing. TMFSG provides critical guidance to the Tangentyere Men’s Behaviour Change Program, ensuring it is grounded in culturally safe, community-led practice.
The group strengthens interagency collaboration through consultation with key Aboriginal-led services such as Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (CAAC), Ingkintja Men’s Clinic, and CAAAPU, supporting the development of trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches to working with Aboriginal men. TMFSG also contributes to resource development, training, and community education, shaping practice models that promote collective accountability, gender justice, and safety for women and children. Through storytelling, community advocacy, and strategic partnerships, TMFSG provides a culturally grounded platform for men to reflect on their roles, relationships, and responsibilities. By walking alongside services and men alike, they lead a powerful example of how culture can be central to healing, change, and the restoration of safety and dignity in Central Australian families.
