About Us
Step Up! Respect is a early intervention program designed to engage disengaged young people and the influential adults (influencers) in their lives. The program aims to normalise conversations about consent, risky and harmful sexual behaviors, porn and jealousing. Using a trauma-informed and strength-based approach, Step Up! Respect empowers young people with the knowledge and skills to recognise and respond to harmful and risky behaviours, while reinforcing that consent is their right and that it is something that they can give or withdraw at any time.
It also equips influencers with the confidence and tools to initiate and normalise conversations about consent and relationships to support and empower the young people in their lives.
Step Up! Respect provides interactive and engaging sessions that resonate with young people while providing practical content and skills for influencers and connects and supports both cohorts with existing resources and assistance on how to use them effectively. Finally, Step Up! Respect uses consistent language across all sessions with young people and influencers to promote healthy relationships and consent, reinforcing key messages for young people and influencers in Central Australia.
